A special gift for the sitter, this mixed media portrait was a joy to paint. Exploring colour was an exciting part of the process - the violet-tinged hair, vibrant orangey-pinks and purples of the azaleas, as well as the cool green of the jacket as a complement were chose carefully. Working in an illustrative style with mixed media gave me freedom to experiment.
