Blue Tits and Daisies

My first pattern and experiment with vector software, this remains one of my favourite designs. The chirpy blue-tits with their bright blue and yellow plumage are a cheerful and happy motif.

The pattern was assembled digitally having created vector versions of the bird and floral motifs from line drawings in my sketchbook.

Chaffinches and Roses followed this design, a second pattern with a similar theme. In both cases I kept to bold palettes that centred around a partnership of two main colours. Selecting colours sometimes falls into place naturally, other times a lot of trial and error is required!
