The frothy caps of cow parsley are celebrated in this contemporary, decorative painting created with mixed media. I have always enjoyed to see the drifts of lacy flowers amongst the hedgerows each summer.
Stylised stems, simplified flowers and graphic detailing show my interest in shape and form. The delicate umbrellas have been painted with luminous watercolour to contrast with the strong, bold gouache colours in the background.
Forms such as these allow for the playful exploration of shape, and colour. Details can be added from the imagination, it is a freeing way to create.
